June 2007 - Officer Palmer and Kimo clean up at this years U.S. Police Canine Association Trials in New Hampshire

On June 23 & 24 of 2007, Officer Eric Palmer and his partner Kimo, attended the U.S. Police Canine Association’s regional PD1 competition/certification. Eric and Kimo has done very well over the past few years since participating, but this year was exceptional.

The team took:

  • 1st place for obedience
  • 1st place for agility
  • 1st place achievement – overall top dog award.

  • This crime fighting duo also placed 2nd and 3rd in quite a few other categories too. This incredible achievement has earned the pair a spot at the Nationals in Florida in October. Stayed tuned.

April 2007 - New Officers Hit The Streets

The entire Wilmington Police would like to welcome Officer Daniel D'Eon and Dennis Rooney to the force. Hired last summer, both Dan and Dennis spent 5 months at the Municipal Police Academy in Reading, MA. Having graduated in February of 2007, the two officers were assigned to Field Training Officers: Michael Wandell, Daniel Murray, and Shawn Lee. Under the leadership of these FTO's, both Officers D'Eon and Rooney were guided as they learned to apply their academy knowledge in "the real world". The FTO program recently wrapped up and both officers have hit the streets solo, to begin their official duties as Wilmington Police Officers. Both men are great additions to the force, and we wish them nothing but success as they commence their rewarding careers as law enforcement officers.
